Up until his death Howard Hughes was without a doubt the richest man in America. When given a 90 day "ultimatum" by the US Air Force that he will do business with them under their terms "or else" at the end of the 90 days he established the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

After his death the IRS attempted to "destroy" his holdings to no avail. Hughes Aircraft Company holdings were sold to General Motors in 1976 for *5 BILLION DOLLARS*.

EVERY DIME OF THE 5 BILLION DOLLARS WAS GIVEN TO THE HOWARD HUGHES MEDICAL INSTITUTE.

Today the Howard Hughes Medical Institute is second only to the Bill Gates Foundation (another Trust) in wealth.
